Romantic & Moody Winter Engagement Session at Woodbine Beach, Toronto

The beaches area of Toronto can make you forget you’re essentially a ten minute drive from downtown. My fiancé Nathan and I met playing beach volleyball at Ashbridges Bay/Woodbine Beach, so when my wedding clients Becca and Peter mentioned doing their engagement session in the beaches area of Toronto because it was of significance to them, I couldn’t have loved the idea more.

We started with a walk to the beach and ended at the coffee shop on Queen East, Mixed Senses, where they had their first date. There’s something different about doing an engagement session at a location of significance to the couple. It brings about more storytelling in your photos, and is a welcomed challenge as an artist. Scroll to the bottom to see photos commemorating their first date as they sit at the same table where they first met.

I had so much fun playing around with different camera effects, like things in front of my lens and motion blur, to really enhance the creativity of the gallery I was making for them. And black and white photos make you FEEL a moment so much more.

This one might be my favourite.

Now, let’s dance.

Time to warm up in the the café where we first met…

What better way to end a Toronto engagement session than with a TTC streetcar running across Queen East?

If you were to do your engagement session at a place of significance to you two, where would it be?
